[Evergreen-catalogers] [EXTERNAL] Anyone using OCLC gateway export for downloading records directly into Evergreen?

Hi Janet,

We are delighted with the gateway export from OCLC Connexion client to Evergreen, in fact we wouldn't want to work without it. You may need to review the Local System settings with your system administrator to get the correct destination for Host Name, the Port number, and Timeout, Retries, and Delay settings. They are the only settings we use. We are a single library system and not part of a consortium.

Our catalogers overlay temporary "On Order" Evergreen records using the Evergreen Record ID number as the match overlay point leaving all the records (orders, items, holds) attached to the same bib record. If your workflow is like ours, your system administrator may need to create record match and merge/overlay profiles , or incorporate them in a network/system process... We use short macros to add a 901 field and we paste or type the Record ID number in subfield $c, and the macro adds a 905 field with the name of the merge/overlay profile in subfield $t and our system name in subfield $o.

I am happy to answer questions on the Connexion Client and cataloging workflow side of things, and I would like to hear what other libraries are doing as well.

I wish you the best and hope to hear more about your experience!

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [Evergreen-catalogers] Anyone using OCLC gateway export for downloading records directly into Evergreen?

Hi Everyone,

We are planning on testing the OCLC gateway export to download records directly into the database. After some confusion as to how this process works, I believe we understand it now and will be testing it on our training server soon. I'm curious as to whether any other Evergreen library is doing this. If you are, do you have any suggestions as to using it? Do you like it?

Thanks,
Janet
