[Evergreen-catalogers] Anyone using OCLC gateway export for downloading records directly into Evergreen?

Janet,

PINES uses the embedded gateway for OCLC WorldCat imports, exclusively. We
only batch import acq records, which must be replaced by a matching OCLC
record when the item is in hand, manually overlaying them. We import
records one at a time and have since day one.

Overall we are happy with the Z30.50 gateway, especially since it is now
easier to search by 028 and 024. I do occasionally need to search directly
in the COnnexion client since there are more filters and indexes than in
the gateway.

We do not search the local catalog in the gateway since it is easy to add
duplicated records if you accidentally "import" a record already in the
local database.

I have instructions here --
https://pines.georgialibraries.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=cat:z3950_interface
and for overlaying here --
https://pines.georgialibraries.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=cat:overlaying_bibliographic_records
in case you want to see them.

We maintain the OCLC TCN as our TCN and use that as the way to stop
duplicate records at import. That is a library setting but I am not
positive where it is. Chris handles that setup and the setup for the Z39.50
gateway.

I will be happy to answer any other questions.
