Dean of College and Seminary Library
Calvin College and Seminary are searching for a new Dean of the Hekman Library. The Dean of the Hekman Library provides vision and leadership in carrying out the mission of the Hekman Library of Calvin College and Calvin Theological Seminary; communicates the value and role of the library in fostering student learning and advanced scholarship; promotes the morale and professional growth of staff members; encourages the creation of new services and the improvement of existing services; and manages the library budget. The dean coordinates the efforts of the Hekman Library's management team and participates in the reference, liaison, and teaching program. From the 3,500 volume "library room" in 1915, the Hekman Library has grown to 1.7 million+ print volumes housed across four floors and a broad array of digital resources.

We are looking for someone with:

  *   A proven record of visionary leadership.
  *   Excellent communication and personnel management skills.
  *   Ability and experience in fostering a collaborative, diverse team environment.
  *   Demonstrated knowledge of the application of computer technology and web-based applications.
  *   Strong background in, and commitment to, delivering library services to patrons with diverse needs.
  *   Experience managing digital initiatives and collaborating with information technology units.
  *   A demonstrated record of sound fiscal management.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
A Master of Library and Information Science (or equivalent) and five to ten years of academic library or related experience and/or training (or equivalent combination of education and experience) are required; a second master's degree is highly desirable.
