[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Patron online self registration for immediate use accounts

We are looking into options to allow our patrons to create accounts online that can be immediately used to access and borrow online materials. 

Looking at the existing patron self-registration feature, that just creates pending accounts for staff to verify, etc. 

Is anybody else considering/interested in online registration for online access use? I'd create a wishlist, but am also be interested in finding potential funding partners.
